TROPICAL ISLAND PARADISE

Reception at Club Med  La Plantation d'Albion

I was very lucky to be able to escort my daughter last month on a trip she did courtesy of Club Med to their La Plantation d'Albion resort in Mauritius. What a treat to visit this stunning island in the Indian Ocean and chill on its beautiful beaches at this 5 star resort.  More coverage can be found on Lizzy's blog Shot from the Street here and here.

This all inclusive resort offered everything we could wish for - fabulous accommodation, great food and entertainment. If we weren't being so lazy we could have taken advantage of the sports facilities on offer but once we found the sun beds on the beach and by the two pools all thoughts of activity went out of our heads. We took full advantage of the time to chill, read loads of books and booked ourselves into the spa for an afternoon of pampering.  It was the best facial I have ever had and I can't praise the spa team enough for a wonderful afternoon.

Fabulous sunbeds on the beach.  Heaven.
We were only in Mauritius for a week and had flown in with Emirates, who I think are one of the best airlines in the world.  Such amazing service and one of the most comfortable economy cabins of any airline I have flown with.  Coming in via Dubai split the journey into two legs of 7 hours, giving time to stretch our legs, shop and have some the food which I prefer to doing a long haul flight in one session.

I must be honest and say that apart from a visit to the capital Port Louis we stayed on the resort and enjoyed it's facilities. Had we been there longer we would have ventured further afield to take in the amazing diversity of this island from the mountains and waterfalls including Black River Gorge to the white sandy beaches and the colonial plantation houses. There is so much to see and do it is a perfect holiday destination for everyone.

Instead I am going to share some of the outfits I wore during the day and evening which proved ideal for this tropical paradise.  The linen cover up shirt above was purchased on holiday in Bali a few years ago and is perfect for days on the beach or by the pool being super lighweight linen and cool to wear.

And just look at this marvellous infinity pool at sunset, how beautiful is the reflection on the water? It is the perfect light for shooting as you can see in the picture below, with a glow cast over everything. This pool is next to the resort's a-la-carte restaurant where we enjoyed a marvellous lunch most days.

This lovely floaty top is from Mandys Heaven and  featured on the blog a few weeks back so I was delighted to take on holiday with me and make good use of it, wearing it for cocktails by the pool.  The necklace is from them too and really dresses up the outfit.

The blue linen top below was purchased from Zara and has been teamed with some white Levis 712 jeans and gold Krista  espadrilles from John Lewis.  A really comfortable outfit for summer evenings and the top will double as a beach cover up as well.

For a dressier look I went for this simple V neck top from Marks & Spencer, which I have had loads of compliments on and it was really very cheap but is sadly no longer available.  This silk version is though at £45. Teamed with some Zara flowing crinkled trousers, an Anya Hindmarch clutch which I have had for a while and navy block heel sandals from John Lewis.

For another daytime look I went for this sleeveless top is from COS and was purchased a few years ago.  The jeans are another Levis 712 pair and those gold espadrilles have made another appearance.

And finally more trousers from Zara, these are their flared ones that are now in the sale for £15.99, teamed with a blouse from Massimo Dutti who have some fabulous things in the sale ......which means having found the link I will have to go back and see what I need for my wardrobe.  Oh dear.
