TRAVEL IS BACK ON!

We have been very quiet over the past few months – sometimes real life gets in the way of our blog.  We have both had first world stuff getting in the way of enjoying life – not least of which we have both – separately at different times – had COVID.

Bad weather, isolation and, being honest a little bit of apathy, has meant the blog has suffered.

But as Spring comes into full bloom we are making tentative steps to try and get back to a normal life.  And first things first – that involves travel.

While we can honestly say this was one of the reasons we started the blog in the first place, it has pretty much taken a back seat during the pandemic.

While Anne H managed her annual trips to Tropea, Italy, and a staycation in England last year, Anne C hasn’t been away for more than two years. Fortunately, all is about to change, but it hasn’t been without issues.

Anne C and her daughter will be jetting off to the USA for a mega holiday shortly – one which she initially planned with the other Anne.  However, following so many postponements and restrictions, she decided not to go.

And looking at the hoops still required for international long haul travel, who can blame her?  If Anne C has suffered any kind of anxiety about the trip, stress levels are now through the roof.

At the time of writing, a PCR test is still required to travel to the US, and masks are optional, while masks are not required on internal America flights.  As the trip also involves a cruise, another test from an international provider is required and this must be taken while in the States and watched on a video call.

It all seemed like a good idea back in 2019 when we planned the trip, but three years later, it has certainly made travel more daunting.  So much so that this may well be Anne’s last major holiday (she is also speeding towards 70!), so it’s likely to just be shorter trips to Europe – and her beloved Greece - in the future.

Anne and her daughter Louise have a full itinerary planned for the trip, which will take in Las Vegas, the Hawaiian Islands and Los Angeles, with lots of visits to iconic landmarks, which she will share on forthcoming blogs.

So fingers crossed and watch this space.....
